When my circumstance is not as easy or comfortable as I desire, I relate to the stubbornness of Israel by the attitudes of my heart. And so God shows me as I continually need to be shown and changed.
Hosea 4:16, “Like a stubborn heifer, Israel is stubborn.
Then He goes on about Israel’s idolatry, their sin, and His wrath. He encourages in Hosea 10: 12, “Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you.
Here a beautiful picture of Christ’s love for His “sons” in Hosea 11:1-4, “When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son. The more they were called the more they went away; they kept sacrificing to the Baals and burning offering to idols. Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk; I took them up by their arms, but they did not know that I healed them. I led them with cords of kindness, with the bands of love.
12:6-7 “So you, by the help of your God, return hold fast to love and justice, and wait continually for your God.”
13:4b “You know no God but me, and besides me there is no Savior.”
14:9 “Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them for the ways of the Lord are right, and the upright walk in them…
